BOA T M E N’S FEE S [CAP. 73. 1
BOATMEN’S FEES ACT
To make provision for the levying of a fee in respect of passengers not making use of dg]ajsas.

"hired means of conveyance"† includes any boat or other craft provided by the agent himself or belonging to the ship on or from which the passengers embark or
disembark;
"Mini s ter" means the Minister u nder wh ose jurisdict i on the
Customs Department may, from time to time, be.
3. (1) From the day on which this Act shall come into force, the agent of every ship carrying passengers to or from Malta shall pay
into the Office of the Comptroller of Customs a fee of four cents (0.0 4) in respect of each passen ger embarking on or disem barki
ng from the ship b y an y hired me ans o f conv eyan ce other than a licensed dg]ajsa.
(2) This fee shall not exceed eight cents (0.08) during one whole day.
(3) The provisions of this article shall not apply to ships carrying passengers between Malta and Gozo.

(2) In particular, but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing power, such regulations may prescribe the manner in which the agent shall collect the fees to be paid by him into the Office of the Comptroller of Customs and the manner in which such fees shall be paid and distributed to the boatmen.
