CIVIL AVIATION ACT (CAP. 232)
Civil Aviation (Denied Boarding Compensation and Assistance to Passengers) (Designation of Competent Authority) Regulations, 2005
IN exercise of the powers conferred by article 3 of the Civil Aviation Act, the Minister for Competitiveness and Communications hereby
makes the following regulations>–
1. (1) The title of these regulations is the Civil Aviation (Denied Boarding Compensation and Assistance to Passengers) (Designation
of Competent Authority) Regulations, 2005.
(2) These regulations shall come into force on the 17th
February 2005.
2. For the purposes of Article 16 of Regulation (EC) No 261#2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 February 2004
establishing common rules on compensation and assistance to passengers in the event of denied boarding and of cancellation or long
delay of flights, and repealing Regulation (EEC) No. 295#91, the Director of Civil Aviation is the designated person responsible
for the enforcement of the provisions of the said EC Regulation as regards flights from airports situated in Malta and flights from
a third country to Malta.
3. The Civil Aviation (Denied Boarding Compensation) Regulations, 2001 is hereby revoked.
