Bye-Laws of 2009 to amend the Bye-Laws of 2005 in terms of the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004 for the Degree of Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) – B.Psy. (Hons) under the auspices of the Faculty of EducationIN exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 74 (5) and 75 (6) of the Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated the following bye-laws made by the Board of the Faculty of Education in virtue of the powers conferred upon it by section 81 (1) of the said Act and which have been approved by the Senate of the University of Malta as required by section 81 (2) of the said Act:
Citation1. These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws of 2009 to amend the Bye- Laws of 2005 in terms of the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004 for the Degree of Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) – B.Psy. (Hons), and shall be read and construed as one with the Bye-Laws of 2005 in terms of the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004 for the Degree of Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) – B.Psy. (Hons) – under the auspices of the Faculty of Education, published as Legal Notice 22 of 2005, hereinafter referred to as “the principal bye-laws”.
Applicability2. These bye-laws shall apply to courses starting in October 2008 or later.
Amendment to bye-law 4 of the principal bye-laws3. For bye-law 4 of the principal bye-laws there shall be substituted the following:
“Special Course Requirements for Admission4. (1) To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants shall, apart from satisfying the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admission Regulations, be in possession of a pass at Intermediate Matriculation Level in Biology at Grade C or better, provided that this special requirement is not applicable when Psychology is taken as an Ordinary Main area in another degree course.

(2) The Admissions Board, acting on the advice of the relevant Board of Studies, may admit applicants in possession of a Bachelor degree obtained with Category II or better with Psychology as a main area of study into the third year of the Course, in terms of regulations 8.1 or 8.1.1 of the Admission Regulations of the University. Such students may be required to follow a modified programme of study to which 60 credits are assigned.”
