EDUCATION ACT (CAP. 327)Bachelor of Science (Honours) - B.Sc. (Hons) - Degree Course (Amendment) Regulations, 2003
IN exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 30 (5) and 31 (6) of the Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated the following regulations made by the Senate of the University of Malta by virtue of the powers conferred upon it by sections 31 and 35 of the said Act:
Citation1. These regulations may be cited as the Bachelor of Science (Honours) - B.Sc. (Hons) - Degree Course (Amendment) Regulations, 2003 and shall be read and construed as one with the Bachelor of Science (Honours) - B.Sc. (Hons) - Degree Course Regulations, 1998, published as Legal Notice 69 of 1998, hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”.
Applicability2. These regulations shall be applicable from 13th December 2002 onwards.
Amendment of regulation 6 of the principal regulations3. For paragraph (18) of regulation 6 of the principal regulations there shall be substituted the following:
“(18) For the purposes of the non-elective written component of the Final Examination, a student who fails in study-units that contribute between them not more than two credits in each of the two principal subjects taken in the fourth year may be re-examined in September. If after the re-sits the student still fails to satisfy the examiners in more than any two credits, he shall fail the Final Examination and shall not qualify for the Honours degree. In this case, the student shall be awarded a Bachelor of Science Pass Degree - B.Sc. - unless he still has the option to repeat a year and chooses to do so.”
