EDUCATION ACT (CAP. 327)Statute I 17- Foundation For International Studies(Establishment as University Entity) Statute (Amendments), 2008
IN exercise of the powers conferred by articles 74(5) and 75(6) of the Education Act, the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated the following amendments to the statute made by the Council of the University of Malta by virtue of the powers conferred upon it by articles 72(h), 75(2) and 77 (c) of the said Act:
Citation.1. The title of these amendments is the Foundation for International Studies (Establishment as University Entity) Statute (Amendments), 2008 and these amendments shall be read and construed as one with the Foundation for International Studies (Establishment as University Entity) Statute, hereinafter referred to as “the principal Statute”.Purpose.2. These amendments are intended to amend the provisions of the principal statute solely insofar as they provide for the power to amend the manner of dissolution of the Foundation for International Studies. This change is being brought about in order to ensure that the power to dissolve the Foundation of International Studies shall vest in the Prime Minister who had originally set it up.Substitutes Article Six of the principal Statute.3. Article Six of the principal Statute shall be substituted as follows: “Article SixThis Statute can be amended by the Prime Minister by order in writing to the Chancellor of the University of Malta and with the concurrence of the said Chancellor.”

SubstitutesArticle Seven of the principal Statute.4. Article Seven of the principal Statute shall be substituted as follows: “Article SevenIn case of the Foundation’s dissolution upon an order in writing by the Prime Minister to the Chancellor of the University of Malta and with the concurrence of the said Chancellor in accordance with Article Six, the property of the Foundation shall vest in the University of Malta which shall be responsible to safeguard the rights of benefactors and donors of the Foundation.”.
