HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONS ACT (CAP. 464)Medical Council (Penalties) Regulations, 2009
IN exercise of the powers conferred by article 32(1)(c) of the Healthcare Professions Act, the Minister for Social Policy has made the following regulations:-
Title.
Penalties.
Erasure of name from register.
Restoration of name to register.
1. The title of these regulations is the Medical Council(Penalties) Regulations, 2009.
2. In such cases as the Medical Council is satisfied that a charge against a practitioner has been proved, then it may impose a penalty not exceeding twenty thousand euro.3. If a practitioner fails to pay such penalty as is imposed on him within three months from the date when the penalty is imposed, then the Medical Council shall order that the practitioner’s name to be erased from any appropriate register without further notice.4. Where the name of a practitioner has been erased from any register for the reason mentioned in regulation 3 hereof, the practitioner’s name shall only be restored to the appropriate register when full payment of the penalty is effected and, in such case, the Medical Council shall order his name to be restored to the appropriate register with immediate effect.Ippubblikat mid-Dipartiment tal-Informazzjoni (doi.gov.mt) — Valletta — Published by the Department of Information (doi.gov.mt) — Valletta
