LOCAL COUNCILS ACT (CAP. 363)Administrative Committees for Communities (Amendment) Regulations, 2010
IN exercise of the powers conferred by articles 47A and 72 of the Local Councils Act, the Prime Minister has made the following regulations:
Title.

Amends regulation
4 of the principal regulations.
1. The title of these regulations is the Administrative Committees for Communities (Amendment) Regulations, 2010, and they shall be read and construed as one with the Administrative Committees for Communities Regulations, 2010 hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”.2. Regulation 4 of the principal regulations shall be amended as follows:-(a) for sub-regulation (1) thereof, there shall be substituted the following:
“ ( 1 ) T h e m e m b e r s o f t h e A d m i n i s t r a t i v e Committee shall be elected by the residents registered in
the streets within the Community for which the election is being held.”;
(b) in sub-regulation (2) thereof, immediately after the words “for the provisions in the following sub-regulations.” there
shall be added the following proviso:-
“Provided that in the case of any discrepancy between these regulations and the provisions of the Third Schedule to the Act, or
in any other circumstances not covered by these regulations or the Third Schedule to the Act, the Electoral Commission shall have
the power to decide on any matter or to take any measures it deems fit.”;
(c) in sub-regulation (3) thereof, immediately after the words “voting is over.”, there shall be added the words “The
distances between the place of voting and the place for the counting of votes mentioned in the Third Schedule to the Act shall not
apply to these elections.”;
(d) in sub-regulation (4) thereof, immediately after the words “the voting document.” there shall be added the words “The
Electoral Commission shall deliver a notice by ordinary post to each person entitled to vote, giving notice about the place and polling
booth and any other details that the Commission deems necessary. In order to vote a person shall go to the indicated place, present
the Identity Card and put a signature next to his name in the list of the persons entitled to vote. Any person incapable to sign
shall put a mark that shall be countersigned by the Assistant Electoral Commissioners.”;
(e) for sub-regulation (5) thereof, there shall be substituted the following:-
“(5) The eligible voters and canditates are those registered in the Electoral Register and residing in the streets within that
Community. This shall also apply to those persons seconding the nomination.”; and
(f) in sub-regulation (6) thereof, the words “to perform their functions on an honorary basis” shall be deleted.

12 to the principal regulations.
“Election of Administrative Committees.
1 2 . T h e E l e c t i o n o f t h e A d m i n i s t r a t i v e Committees shall be held on the 27th March, 2010 in the following
Communities:
Marsalforn within the locality of Żebbuġ
(Gozo);
Xlendi within the locality of Munxar (Gozo); Santa Luċija within the locality of Kerċem
(Gozo);
