METROLOGY ACT (CAP. 454)
The Measuring Instrument (Amendment) Regulations, 2008
IN exercise of the powers conferred by regulation 19 of the Metrology Act, the Malta Standards Authority has made the following regulations>–
1. (1) The title of these regulations is The Measuring Instrument (Amendment) Regulations, 2008 and they shall be read and construed as one with the Measuring Instrument Regulations, 2006, hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”.
(2) These regulations transpose Annex B of Directive
2006#96#EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20th November, 2006 on adapting certain Directives in the field of free movement of goods, by reason of the accession of Bulgaria and Romania on the 1st January, 2007.
(3) These regulations shall come into force on the 1st
January, 2007.
2. Regulation 1 (2) of the principal regulations, shall be substituted by the following>
“(2) These regulations shall come into force on the 30th October, 2006, hereinafter referred to as the effective date provided that sub-regulations 4(3) to 4(13) shall remain in-force up to and not later than 30th October, 2016. For the purpose of this transition period, the monetary values for Bulgaria and Romania according to point 4.7.1. of Chapter IV of the Schedule to the Ancillary Equipment for Volumetric Meters Regulations, 2002 shall be fixed at>
1 new leu.”.
