PRODUCT SAFETY ACT (CAP. 427)Framework for the Setting of Ecodesign Requirements forEnergy-Related Products (Amendment) Regulations, 2011

IN exercise of the powers conferred by articles 38 to 40 of the Product Safety Act, the Prime Minister, on the advice of the Malta Standards Authority, has made the following regulations:-

Citation and scope.

(2) These regulations apply to the requirements of the
(a) Commission Regulation (EU) No 1015/2010 of
10 November 2010 implementing Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for household washing machines;
(b) Commission Regulation (EU) No 1016/2010 of
10 November 2010 implementing Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for household dishwashers.

“(a) products within the meaning of Commission Regulation (EC) No 1275/2008 of 17 December 2008 i m p l e m e n t i n g D i r e c t i v e 2 0 0 5 / 3 2 / E C o f t h e E u r o p e a n Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for standby and off mode electric power

Amends regulation

2 of the principal regulations.

equipment;
(b) products within the meaning of Commission R e g u l a t i o n ( E C ) N o 1 0 7 / 2 0 0 9 o f 4 F e b r u a r y 2 0 0 9 i m p l e m e n t i n g D i r e c t i v e 2 0 0 5 / 3 2 / E C o f t h e E u r o p e a n Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for simple set-top boxes;
(c) products within the meaning of Commission R e g u l a t i o n ( E C ) N o 2 4 4 / 2 0 0 9 o f 1 8 M a r c h 2 0 0 9 i m p l e m e n t i n g D i r e c t i v e 2 0 0 5 / 3 2 / E C o f t h e E u r o p e a n Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for non-directional household lamps;
(d) products within the meaning of Commission R e g u l a t i o n ( E C ) N o 2 4 5 / 2 0 0 9 o f 1 8 M a r c h 2 0 0 9 i m p l e m e n t i n g D i r e c t i v e 2 0 0 5 / 3 2 / E C o f t h e E u r o p e a n Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for fluorescent lamps without integrated ballast, for high intensity discharge lamps, and for ballasts and luminaries able to operate such lamps, and repealing Directive
2000/55/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council;
(e) products within the meaning of Commission Regulation (EC) No 278/2009 of 6 April 2009 implementing Directive 2005/32/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for no-load condition electric power consumption and average active efficiency of external power supplies;
( f ) h o t - w a t e r b o i l e r s w i t h i n t h e m e a n i n g o f t h e Efficiency Requirements for New Hot-Water Boilers Fired with Liquid or Gaseous Fuels (Implementing Measures) Regulations;
(g) products within the meaning of Commission Regulation (EC) No 640/2009 of 22 July 2009 implementing Directive 2005/32/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for electric motors;
(h) products within the meaning of Commission Regulation (EC) No 641/2009 of 22 July 2009 implementing Directive 2005/32/EC of the European Parliament and of the

Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for glandless standalone circulators and glandless circulators integrated in products;
(i) products within the meaning of Commission Regulation (EC) No 642/2009 of 22 July 2009 implementing Directive 2005/32/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for televisions;
(j) products within the meaning of Commission Regulation (EC) No 643/2009 of 22 July 2009 implementing Directive 2005/32/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for household refrigerating appliances;
(k) products within the meaning of Commission Regulation (EC) No 1015/2010 of 10 November 2010 implementing Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for household washing machines;
(l) products within the meaning of Commission Regulation (EC) No 1016/2010 of 10 November 2010 implementing Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for household dishwashers.”.
