PRODUCT SAFETY ACT (CAP. 427)
Textile Names (Amendment) Order, 2007
IN exercise of the powers conferred by articles 38 to 40 of the Product Safety Act, the Minister for Competitiveness and Communications, on the advice of the Malta Standards Authority, has made the following Order>–
1. The title of this Order is the Textile Names (Amendment) Order, 2007, and the Order shall be read and construed as one with the Textile Names Order, 2000, hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”.
2. This Order transposes Commission Directive 2006#2#EC of 6
January 2006 and Commission Directive 2006#3#EC of 9 January 2006.
3. In the First Schedule to the principal Order immediately after item 44 there shall be added the following new item 45>

Amends the First Schedule to the principal Order.

“45 elastomultiester fibre formed by interaction of two or more chemically distinct linear macromolecules in two or more distinct phases (of which none exceeds 85% by mass) which contains ester groups as a dominant functional unit (at least 85%) and which, after suitable treatment when stretched to one and a half times its original length and released, recovers rapidly and substantially to its initial length”.

Amends the Second Schedule to the principal Order.

Amends the Fifth Schedule to the principal Order.

4. In the Second Schedule to the principal Order, immediately after item 44 there shall be added the following new item 45>
“45 Elastomultiester 1,50”.
5. In paragraph 1 of Part 1 of the Fifth Schedule to the principal Order, immediately after the words “and of the Council” there shall be added the words “, as amended by Commission Directive 2006#2#EC”.
