Sport Persons (Registration) Regulations, 2008
IN exercise of the powers conferred by articles 39 and 53 of the Sports Act, the Minister of Education, Youth and Employment, after
consultation with the Kunsill Malti g[all-iSport, has made the following regulations>-

Register of Sport
Persons.
Application to register.
1. The title of these regulations is the Sport Persons (Registration) Regulations, 2008.
2. (1) In these regulations unless the context otherwise requires> “the Act” means the Sports Act<
“applicant” means a sport association or national sport association, a federation or national federation, a club, sport school
or person who applies with the Council for registration in the Register<
“application form” means the application form set out in the
First Schedule hereof<
“statute” means the statute or act of constitution of an applicant or registered person.
(2) Subject to the provisions of sub-regulation (1) of this regulation, terms and expressions used in these regulations shall,
unless the context otherwise requires, have the meaning assigned to them in the Act.
3. The Council shall keep the Register of Sport Persons provided for in Part VII of the Act, and it may consist of such parts as
the Council may from time to time determine for the purpose of distinguishing the nature of the registered person.
4. (1) No person shall be registered in the appropriate part of the Register unless an application form is submitted to the
Council.
(2) An applicant shall apply for registration by submitting to the Council the application form, addressed to the Chairman of the
Council, which shall be accompanied by all such other documents required by the Act and these regulations.
5. (1) A registered person, other than an individual, shall notify the Council of any of the following>-
(a) any amendment or change in its Statute<
(b) any change in its management, administration or representation<
(c) any change in its official address or office.
(2) Where any of the above events occur, it shall be the duty of the person or official entrusted with the legal representation
of the registered person to deliver to the Council, within twenty days from its occurrence>
(a) a copy of the amendment or change in the Statute of the registered person, together with an updated and revised copy of the
Statute<
(b) a return of any change in its official address or office< (c) a return of any change in the membership and officials
of the Committee, Board or Council of the registered person,
specifying the name and residence of the newly appointed persons.
6. (1) Every registered person shall, by not later than the end of October of each current year, deliver to the Council a copy
of the accounts for the financial year ending not later than the 31st December of the immediately preceding year together with the auditor’s report referred to in sub-regulation (2) of this regulation.
Such accounts shall comply as to form and content with the provisions of the Second Schedule hereof. Such accounts shall give a
true and fair view of the assets, liabilities, operations, financial position and profit or loss of the registered person, and shall
be signed by at least one official of the registered person or in the case of an individual registered person by that individual.
(2) The accounts referred to in the immediately preceding sub-regulation shall be audited by an auditor in accordance with the
provisions of the Statute of the registered person.

7. (1) The Council may from time to time require any applicant or registered person to provide the Council with data and information
relating to athletes, coaches, officials and facilities of such applicant or registered person and in the case of a national association
or federation or other registered person, data and information relating to any organization registered or affiliated thereto and
their officials as the Council may require for the purpose of performing its functions under the Act.
(2) Every registered person shall by not later than the end of October of any current year make and deliver to the Council a signed
return in the form set out in the Third Schedule.
