L.N. 309/03 of 2003VETERINARY SERVICES ACT, 2001 (ACT NO. XXIII OF 2001)Identification of Equidae for Breeding and Production Regulations, 2003

IN exercise of the powers conferred by article 34(d) of the Veterinary Services Act,
2001, the Minister for Rural Affairs and the Environment has made the following regulations:-

Title and scope1. (1) The title of these regulations is the establishing the identification of equidae for breeding and production Regulations, 2003.

(2) The scope of these regulations is to implement the provisions laid down under Commission Decision 2000/68/EC amending Commission Decision
93/623/EEC and establishing the identification of equidae for breeding and production. This Decision finds its legal basis under European Union Council Directive 90/427/EEC, article 8(1).

Identification number2. (1) The identification number mentioned in Section II (1) of the identification document laid down by European Commission Decision 93/623/EEC shall be the life-number of the animal, which must be maintained or a reference to which must be established whenever the competent authorities modify registration details of the animal in question.

(2) The identification number referred to in sub-regulation (1) shall be the identification number referred to in article 7(3) of Council Directive 90/426/EEC.

Identification document accompanying equidae for breeding3. The identification document accompanying equidae for breeding and production during their movement must contain at least the information provided for in Sections I, II, III, IV and IX of the identification document laid down by European Commission Decision 93/623/EEC.
