Veterinary Services Act (Act Xxiii Of 2001) Specimen And The Particulars On The Pedigree Certificate Of Pure-Bred Breeding Animals Of The Bovine Species Regulations, 2003 (L.N. 317 Of 2003 )

IN exercise of the powers conferred by article 34(a) of the Veterinary Services Act,
2001, the Minister for Rural Affairs and the Environment has made the following regulations:-

(2) The scope of these regulations is to implement the provisions found under European Commission Decision 86/404/EEC laying down the specimen and the particulars to be shown on the pedigree certificate of pure-bred breeding animals of the bovine species. This Decision finds a legal basis under European Council Directive 77/504/EEC, article 5 and article 6(1), fifth indent.

(2) The results of performance tests and the results with origin of the assessment of the genetic value, on the animal itself and its parents and grand- parents, must be clearly stated and accompany or be included in the certificate.

(a) In the form of a pedigree certificate conforming to the model in the
Schedule;
(b) In documentation accompanying the pure-bred breeding animal. In this event the competent authority of the territory of Malta or of the Member State of dispatch must certify that the particulars set out in regulation 2 are indicated in those documents, by the following formula -
“The undersigned certifies that these documents contain the particulars mentioned in
Article 1 of Commission Decision 86/ 404/ EEC.”
